Appleby College: Quarterly
Project Brief: To produce a quarterly newsletter that highlights the pride and tradition of the students and alumni of Appleby College an independent day and boarding school Grades 7 – 12 in Oakville Ontario. The newsletter is meant to communicate to students, faculty and alumni current news and events happening at the college in a professional, traditional and unique way.
My Role: These newsletters were created by myself along with the team at Fusion Design Group. My role included, creative direction and development/execution of the publications.
Concept: Underlying themes of tradition, pride and school spirit always played a large role both visually and in the writing throughout the newsletters. Photography was used heavily throughout to show an authentic view of what life at the school is all about.
Process: Working with the client, we took all of the articles for each issue and read through them carefully to come up with the look and feel for the issue. Each publication had a
central theme and the cover was designed around that. We would create a full proof of the newsletter and send that to the client for feedback. After this stage there would be many rounds of revisions and finally proofreading completed by the client. Then we performed final “checks”, garnered approvals and delivered working files to the printer. The client would join for printer proofs and press checks to ensure their comfort level with the final product was met.
Results: Feedback from the client, and the students, teachers, parents and alumni of Appleby College was always positive.
