George Brown College Viewbook 2016/17
Project Brief: To produce the 2017/18 Viewbook for George Brown College. The Viewbook is meant to outline all of the important information a prospective student or parent would require to aid in the college application process. The book is also used as a marketing tool, highlighting all of the reasons prospective applicants should choose George Brown.
My Role: The Viewbook was created by myself along with the team at Fusion Design Group. My role included, creative direction and development/execution of the book as well as contributing to copy-writing for headlines and call-outs.
Concept: George Brown has three campuses located in the heart of downtown Toronto, giving students access to top employers in their field, networking opportunities, and the chance to live in the vibrant, ever-changing setting of the downtown core. Upon doing initial research into past Viewbooks created for George Brown, we noticed that the downtown location wasn’t being highlighted. We felt this was a huge selling point for prospective applicants and it needed to be featured more prominently. My suggestion to the client to highlight the location included, creating infographic call-outs throughout titled “GBC in the 6” with points about the benefits of being downtown, as well as selecting visually impactful photos that clearly showed off the campuses downtown location.
Process: We began the process by doing a lot of research into George Brown College and previous marketing pieces that had been created. After an initial brainstorm meeting with the client, several conceptual directions were presented. After getting initial feedback and making a few tweaks a final conceptual direction was chosen. We then developed a full proof of the Viewbook based on the chosen concept. After multiple rounds of revisions and final production, final artwork was sent through to the client to be printed.
Result: The client was very pleased with the final result and received great feedback on the Viewbook. We have also been awarded another job this year to create the Acceptance Book for George Brown, a similar piece that goes out to students who applied and have been accepted into the college.
